Honda has agreed a deal to strengthen its ties to the two Red Bull Formula 1 teams less than 12 months since it technically quit the championship.
Nobody’s really noticed Honda’s absence since the end of the 2021 season because for most people watching…Honda’s not really left.
The engines Honda designed are still in the Red Bulls and the AlphaTauris, and they are even still being built and maintained in Japan.
And as of the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix, Honda is actually stepping up its Red Bull deal again. Amid increasing expectation Honda will agree to be part of the 2026 engine regulations with Red Bull once more, it’s perfectly valid if you’re hearing this and thinking: what is Honda playing at?
