The latest project from Peter Jackson is generating a lot of good buzz just now. An huge space ship arrives on Earth, in South Africa, and is unable to leave. They are allowed to stay by the governments, but they are separated from of mankind and force to live in what amounts to a slum. District 9 is one of the areas being inhabited by the aliens but as man is trying to move the aliens from the area, they realise that they don't really know what is going on in the districts, nor do people realise that the governments agenda has been the development of weapons from the alien technology.
Shaping up to be a very good sci-fi thriller, this movie certainly seems to be one to watch this year.

I saw this in the cinema a few days ago. Overall I came out thinking "meh".
The story line, filming and special effect are all quite good...but it failed to really pull me in.

I saw District 9 last night and I really enjoyed it. As you said, the story the film and effects are all good, but it did work for me. I liked the documentary like aspect to the film, also liked that the main star of the film isn't the usual 'ex-soldier' type that would usually be involved.
