Based on a graphic novel of the same name, this movie has been generating a lot of buzz lately. Going from the earlier teaser trailer and now this full length trailer, I'd have to say that it is indeed look like a good film.

a legal battle between Fox and Warner over the rights to the Watchmen has been won by Fox. This means that Warner did not have the appropriate rights required in order to make the film. While it's not expected that Fox will kill the movie, the arguing over who is entitled to what is likely to continue a little while longer and could see the planned release date of the movie slip. :(

News going around today is that Fox and Warner are closing to agreeing a settlement on their dispute, which will hopefully mean that the films release date will not be affected after all.

Warner thought they had, Fox thought they hadn't. The judge agreed with Fox.
From what I've read, Fox had first refusal on any script for the Watchmen (a project that had been struggling to get going for many years), so in the last push a new script was written - which Fox turned down but Warner wanted to do something with it. However, where I think the complication comes about is that before the film went into production, they made another draft of the script, which did not get presented to Fox (by this time, they thought the deal was set with Warner, given that Fox had refused the previous draft) - so it seems that this technicality means that Warner didn't have the full rights to make the movie. Anyway, that's how I understand it.
It also seems that Fox did contact Warner when the film was in early production, but Warner dismissed them thinking that they had the rights they needed.

I saw this last month when it came out and it was really good. The story isn't really what I was expected from seeing the trailer, but it was very engrossing - it was kind of like a noire detective movie (but with heroes). Also very brutal and violent, but understandable with it's 18 rating. If I don't get a chance to see this in the cinema again while it's out, it definitely going to be a purchase on DVD.
