The first of Lucas' non-movie (kind of) Star Wars projects, The Clone Wars is an CG animated series that should be appearing on TV over the next year. To get things started, the first few episodes have been created and unified for cinema release. It is look pretty good so far, obviously taking place during the Clone Wars (between Episodes 2 and 3) there will be plenty of action and plenty of Jedi around. The voices sound like they may be by movie cast (I don't think we hear Obi Wan at all in the trailer, so possible not all the cast is on board), though it is also possible they have some good voice impressionists in the team! The cinematic trailer is available here: http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809991325/video/7744414

Saw this tonight and it was quite entertaining. Was different seeing a CGI Star Wars movie like this, but I quickly got into it. The humour level has been turned up a bit from the films, which is understandable given that the Clone Wars is intended as a TV series. If the series maintains the quality of this movie, then it will certainly be worth watching.

not sure if the movie will be on TV or if the show will start where the movie finishes.
If you've not seen The Dark Knight, Wall-e, Kung Fu Panda or Tropic Thunder, then probably best to see those first (if they are still out over there), otherwise Clone Wars is worth watching.

ha ha ok. i still think i might rent it. i was a little upset when i saw it in previews cuz it seemed to me like george lucas was just reluctant to let go of his cash cow. which might be the case but he should still produce something good.

from what I heard, Lucas & co made the first twenty episodes of the series without any backing, then tried to sell it to the networks. Warner would only take the series if they also got a movie out of it. Also rumoured that the live action TV series that Lucas is planning was also part of the deal (which I believe is going to be more like Battlestar Galactica in tone).

Saw this last weekend... I was pretty pleased with the movie... story was pretty solid... the movie did appeal to my wife, who actually enjoyed the movie (shes NOT a starwars fan... but shes a closet sci fi fan, she just doesnt admit it :).. she liked it though, because there was a few 'cute' moments in the movie. The tone of it is definitely lighter than the movies... but its still good starwars stuff :)
Its a good precursor to the tv show :)

no idea yet, but I wouldn't expect it in 2008 at all.
