Disney have just announced their upcoming animated releases until the end of 2012. There is plenty on offer, particuarly from Pixar. The original article is available at Empire Online, however here are some of the highlights:

WALL•E (June 27, 2008 in US; July 18 in UK) * Pixar
- We know about this one already :)
BOLT (November 26th, 2008)
- Animals on an adventure, sounds a bit like Incredible Journey
TINKER BELL (October 28th, 2008)
- Straight to DVD kids movie
UP (May 29, 2009 in US; July 17, 2009 in UK) * Pixar
- Supposed to be a bit of tear jerker, story of an old man rediscovering life.
TOY STORY in 3-D (October 2, 2009) * Pixar
- The original in 3D
THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG (Christmas 2009)
- Disney return to traditional animation
TINKER BELL NORTH OF NEVER LAND - working title (2009)
- To DVD
TOY STORY 2 in 3-D (February 12, 2010) * Pixar
- The second one, in 3D
TOY STORY 3 (June 18, 2010) * Pixar
- The one we've been waiting for! What happens when Andy grows too old for his toys?
RAPUNZEL (Christmas 2010)
- Fairytale story
TINKER BELL A MIDSUMMER STORM - working title (2010)
- To DVD
NEWT (Summer 2011) * Pixar
- The last two newts of their species, scientists are trying to get them to mate, but they hate each other
THE BEAR AND THE BOW (Christmas 2011) * Pixar
- Set in Scotland, a princess makes a mistake that could ruin the kingdom
TINKER BELL A WINTER STORY - working title (2011)
- To DVD
CARS 2 (Summer 2012) * Pixar
- Surprised? Second adventure for the Cars
KING OF THE ELVES (Christmas 2012)
- Based on the book by Philip K Dick.

Plenty there to look forward to, we even get to have 2 Pixar films in one year in 2011!

Cars 2 was a bit of surprise, however I'm really looking forward to Toy Story 3!

i'm such a girl, but i don't care. i'm SO happy they're going back to classical fairy tales. i love them and i was hoping for that. i just want them to make a 12 dancing princesses movie :-(. the only one i've heard of was a barbie one and you can imagine how crap THAT was.

Can't say I'm too fussed about the TinkerBell movies, however I agree that it's good to see them going back to their fairly tale routes (even though I suspected they'll 'Disney-ise' the fairy tales like they always did!) with 'The Princess And The Frog' and 'Rapunzel'.
Even so, I'm still more excited about Pixar's line up!

i thought that pixar split from disney and started making their own movies for a while...i'm not sure where i heard that though.
the movies they made probably bombed without the disney name to back them up.

they did, kind of. The original deal was for 5 movies and with the massive success they had they would have been able to get a fantastic deal anywhere. However, Disney didn't want to let them go, so bought them. However, as Steve Jobs (who also owns/runs Apple) was the major shareholder of Pixar, Disney were only able to buy them in exchange for Steve Jobs becoming the largest shareholder in Disney - which effectively means that Steve Jobs is now also running Disney (or at least the movie side of it, I think), who are running Pixar. You'll probably be able to find more detailed info on it with Google or Wiki.

oh, thats a little stupid. they basically handed disney over...because they wanted pixar...that just doesn't make sense to me.
but nothing business related really does.

it's make more money for the people concerned!

Arguably, Pixar was worth more than the rest of the Disney animated movie division, so for Disney and the stake holders, it is a good move. For Steve Jobs, having the influence in Disney has meant that he had no barriers to having all the Disney owned content (ABC and other movie/TV companies) available for the iTunes store.
