It's not died, just people are not joining the forums.

Total Visitors: 5956245
28 Active Users (01.02.2008 14:50)

Visitors are increasing, but as I said, not talking on the forums...though they are reading the forums.

I think Swoj needs something of a overhaul.

I think swoj needs another gimmick. I mind when it first started it was the good finds of quality stick men anims that got new folk coming to the site.

tell me about it, definitely need an overhaul. I just don't like doing things by half, combined with working 6/7 days a week, doesn't leave me much time.
As I've said before, I do have one thing coming up that I'd hoped to get finished over christmas (can't use work as an excuse for that... it was the xbox this time!), hoping to get it finished off if I can get a few days free over the next few weeks. Once that is out of the way, then my attention will turn to the site as a whole :)

I wasn't attracted by the games .. it was the interesting yet extremely random forums that brought me to the site, haha. I felt at home! But yeah, why not work out the main things, maybe other than stick men, that make people join up x

Maybe a flash portal or something, you know let people submit there own stuff, link it up with the forums so that it's all interlinked. Maybe offer people money for making flash stuff (like a share of the ad clicks).

If you need any help (I'm no expert, but I do enjoy a bit of PHP, MySQL, CSS and XHTML fun) just ask :P

The next version will be developed in .net 2.0 (or possibly 3.5), however I'll be looking to revamp the games on the site so may be accept contributions in that department. Tetris and Snake both need an overhaul (browser compatibility being the top priority) and I'd like to get others added as well. Intention is to have high score saving for all games (working in cheat prevention, etc if possible)

That is called usability testing, where you put someone on a computer and tell them to do something...It's the best job in a web development company.

I would love to contribute something (Brushes off dust from Flash). Why do you want to use .NET just out of interest? You can lower costs and increase security by switching to PHP.

ASP.NET is much better than PHP in my opinion. The main difference is that PHP is a script language, while using ASP.NET is developed as a proper application, other than process flow, it's pretty similar to writing a desktop application.

As we develop desktop and web applications at work, I know ASP.NET pretty well.

Costs, PHP would not lower any costs at all. I have a windows server already. SQL2005 Express is free, and more than suitable for what I need, and all the Mircosoft development tools for .NET are free as well (Express versions), however as we use them at work, I have the full Visual Studio 2005, which is a great development environment.

As for security, ASP.NET is secure (or at the very least, no less secure than anything else), the framework itself provides a lot of security to start with, in addition, the way we develop is geared to minimise attack risk (ie. no SQL string generation, only using Stored Procedures for database access).

Fair play :)

I should open a topic so we can have heated debates about this :P *Rogem Googles the phrase ".Net Vs PHP" and have a quick read* ...Lets not though.

I find the security is only as good as the coder, for example if someone did not check the information sent in a form, there is more likely to be a security hole.

You should add more Rancid_Orphan to the site.

That will make things excellent.

yeah. uh huh.

so i know this is beyond off topic, but you're all talking computers and technology...
my ipod won't cooperate. i had to reinstall itunes because i had to completely wipe out my computer due to a virus. but ihad everything saved onto an external hard drive so it wasn't like i lost everything. and itunes immediately took in all my musuc and converted it or absorbed it or whatever. but when iplugged in my ipod, it didn't recognize it as the ipod that belonged with the itunes...whichwas fine cuz it asked me if i wanted to sync the ipod with those itunes...yeah...but then it wouldn't transfer the music i had bought at the itunes store onto my ipod. it said it wasn't permitted...so i bought it AGAIN...and it still won't let me have it!
whats going on? what do i do? someone save me!!!

lol, have you signed into your iTunes music store account? That messed me up, and also, you can only register an iPod to one PC so it might have confused itself during the reinstallation, hope that helps :D
