Follow up to 2004s AvP, which although entertaining, it wasn't all it could have been. The two sci-fi worlds of the Alien and the Predator have been intermixed in the pages of comics/graphic novels for many year, so their first appearance on the big screen together was highly anticipated and ultimately a bit of a let down. However, this time around they have decided to correct the mistakes of the last film, which in no small part came about as a result of the studios decision to make the film a US rated PG-13, which is fairly family friendly, so would not leave much room for the grit and violence that these two creatures are used to! AvP:R (as it is also known) is going to be R rated, a much more mature rating, paving the way for much more adult oriented horror and action. The plot follows on from the end of the last film, with the Predator ship crash landing on Earth (in the USA to be a bit more exact), result in a three way human - Alien - Predator battle for survival. you can view the trailer over here: http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/08/24/first-r-rated-aliens-vs-predator-requiem-trailer/this will be out around Christmas in the US, not sure on the UK release date though

You know... I never thought I'd contemplate going to the movies on Christmas day... but now I have a reason why :) hehe. Seriously though... ill be first in line to see this Boxing Day. Contrary to most critics, I actually liked the first AVP, and this one looks more actiony...so hell yeah. Can't wait. IGN has some good Hi res photos of the Pred...and pred-alien hybrid. http://media.movies.ign.com/media/746/746237/imgs_1.html

I like the first one as well, though while it was an entertaining movie, it did kind of break a bit of continuity with the previous films, Alien gestation period was down to around 20 minutes (from many hours in the original) being the main one I remember.
Also, given the mature themes and action of the original movies (Aliens and Predator), the action was fairly sanitised by comparison - thankfully it looks like this is being put right for this movie :)

Just back from seeing this, was a good film!
The more mature rating has definitely helped this film over the previous one, the overall feel it much more akin to the movie 'Aliens', not to mention that in this one they don't pull any punches, things get brutal.
The film starts exactly where the last one ended, however the course of events play out much more believably than the first film, leading up to an interesting ending. Looks like there are definitely more AvP films to come and if they keep up the standard of this one then it's going to be a good franchise.

I loved this film! I didn't watch any other Alien or Predator filmes so I can't compare but I don't think it could have been much better. This film had a lot of drama, blood and gore but not so much that it ruined the film. I would definately recommend this to anyone and everyone over the age of 15, hehe x
