This is a really sad topic, but its something to be talked about. 32 students and teachers were shot to death on the Virginia Tech college campus. Some guy chained the doors shut to one of the buildings and went into the classrooms shooting people.

Its really sad when stuff like this happens. Kinda makes you wonder what this world is coming to.
And its always around this time of year. Something's in the air I think.

That's a pretty shocking event, though I've been surprised that the media coverage I've seen of it so far seems to have been fairly reserved and few have been jumping to any opinions.

Can only hope that people will look at this seriously and look to address the real reasons that it happened. There are major social issues in the world that have led to many incidents like this, yet people are too keen to turn on a scapegoat (music, video games, movies) to blame them for causing it. We can only hope that this is the incident that makes people finally want to deal with the real issues behind it, prejudices, family breakdown, social pressures and other such factors.

Personally I think he was being bullied and was depressed.

*Start Rant*
Firstly he was medically depressed and he was allowed to get a Gun! Though the someone who's big in the world of guns (Daily Mail) said if everyone has guns this could have been avoided (As they could have defended themselves) what personally I find is an even more shocking statement, that someone would say if everyone had a gun it would be fine, I think that only the forces should have guns.

He was depressed and should have never been sold a gun.

The school was slow to react to the first shooting!

*End Rant*

It is quite a sad story, what will be remembered for many years to come. My deepest sympathy goes out to all those effected.

you cant predict the future. no one can predict the future. school shooters do not fit into any particular group of people. yes, it's tragic, but it's not like anyone could actually see it coming

the teachers who read his twisted stories referred him for a psych evaluation which apparently showed him to be a danger to himself and others.
and he was released instead of being sent to treatment, which is where all the people in lab coats come in to play....but they let him go without any sort of monitoring or way to check in on him.

and as for his family circumstances...they don't seem to be too sympathetic. even if my nephew went on a psycho rampage, i'd be sad for his death and sad for how things happened. just saying.

To be completely honest, I don't understand. America in the films seems cool, but when you go there for real, it's like the whole country should be renamed Jerkworld or something.
(No offence to Vache, btw)

It's a terrible thing to happen and that's quite stereotypical of America. To be honest, everywhere has bad things happening but America is larger and has a greater population so surely it's going to be more common there. When I went to America I found the people really friendly, better than in Exeter/Plymouth (South England Cities) anyway. The people I met in Seattle were especially nice, I suppose it depends on the area and how they've been brought up etc.

there's that, and then there's the fact that there are people out there that have these terrible emotional problems and no one does anything. its always after the fact you get people saying "i always knew that guy was crazy". they're gonna do something terrible no matter what, it just depends if their the kind of person that takes it all upon themself or if they're the kind that blames things on everyone else.
and then you have the whole thing where its incredibly easy to get a gun in the US. i could go get one right now no problem. there's no real screening process...and if there is then its nothing psychological.

I don't think we should call them special .. mentally deranged is perhaps a better term, or pure psycho. I got called that today =.= I tease my mate's little brother but he doesn't mind because out of the whole greeb group that he lingers around, I'm the nicest to him usually. He was mean so I pulled his hair (he's growing it) and some bitch said "are you f*cking psycho, beating up little kids?!" so I replied, simply "Yes" haha x

I know, it sucks. Marilyn Manson commented on the massacre, he was asked, "What would you say to these kids if you could?"
He replied "I wouldn't say anything, I would listen to what they have to say."
However, don't quote me on that because it might be slightly different, hehe x
