Steve Irwin was killed at 1am GMT, whilst filming a documentary on stingrays he was stabbed in the chest by one. It penetrated his chest and went into his heart. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/5311298.stm

yeah i just heard about that about 5 minutes ago. that is very sad. what a freak thing to happen. i laways figured it would be a crocodile you know? how sad. i feel bad for his family too. wife and 2 kids. that sucks.

May he Rest In Peace. I don't know about you guys i when i was younger i always watched his programs. I'll miss him.

It's sad this happened, he was very unlucky :( only the 3rd person ever to be killed by a stingray in Australia.

Yes, I hear he is getting a state funeral so the whole of Australia gets the day off work.

and its all on tape. his death i mean. how awful for that to even exist. but it was quick. he only had time to pull it out of his chest and then he was gone.

The camera man was filming at the time cut the tape after he relised what was happening. Actally the way this stingray's tail is formed makes it so if the posien (sp) does not kill you, when you pull out the tail the barbs on it will rip a big chunk out of you. I heard his dad said he did not want his son to have a state funeral.

lol that's so true. he was going to promote his daughter starting her own tv show along the same animal loving lines as his show, but for kids. i think she is still going through with it.
