With only a few exceptions, video games made into movies never really work properly. Sadly, I think Dead or Alive is going to fall into this category as well. Despite the fairly high profile cast - featuring Jaime Pressly (Tina), Holly Valance (Christie) and Devon Aoki (Kasumi) - and some kind of plot added to take the movie beyond the realm of a beat-'em-up game to trailer does make it all look at bit corny.
The movie obviously shares the games focus on martial arts action and the girls, with evidence of DOA Extreme Beach Volly also being apparant. Maybe if the movies manages to carry off the tounge-in-cheek approach it may make for an entertaining movie.
The trailers are shown below, regardless of how good the movie is, I suspect I'll be going to see it anyway

hmmm i never played that game but i'll probably go see this movie cuz i always liked that sort of movie. it looks like it is pretty toungue in cheek. what's the release date?

Seems to be coming out on 15th Sept in the UK, so I guess the US release must be immenant as well. Only found one source for that so far though, but the adverts are on TV now so seems about right.

wow we haven't been getting any advertizing. i'll look to see if any of our theaters plan on showing it. sometimes they only show up in random little theaters if they don't get a lot of publicity.

Finally saw this a few nights ago. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.
The plot is more or less taken straight from the video game (quite possible done using 'copy & paste'), however the fight scenes are fairly well done, so it was entertaining enough... just don't take it too seriously!
