that must be it. some of those covers were way too elaborate to be temporary ones.
like someone in the back had A LOT of time on their hands.

indeed. the one that shows the back cover is pretty elaborate, but i think they chose the wrong planet...deserts dont appeal to most people for some reason

we live in a desert. i can completely understand why it wouldn't appeal to people.
people like green things and beautiful weather.
not scorching heat and scraggle-bush.

EA will have release some concept shots for the box art, so retailers will be using them until the final art is released. All part of the sales process, they need something visual to help get sales, just a fact of life.
Won't just be Spore though, look up any anticipated title and it will be the same thing.
With a game like Spore, there are a lot of options on how they brand the game, much like there was with Black and White a few years ago.

well whatever the case, it needs to come out soon. at least give us a release date. my g/f reserved a copy for me for my birthday (she's awesome :P) and she said the guy told her it was coming out October 7th '07...i told her that the guy was full of it
