The Nintendo Revolution has a new name! Wii (Pronounced 'we) is it's new name. Have a look at the Wii's website ( http://wii.nintendo.com/ ). Personally i think the name Wii is not a good name, due to the fact it sound like wee (Yeah, i'm that immature). I think the PS3 looks more hopeful out of the PS3 and Wii, because it's name is not a joke to 7 year olds. Full On Design

Actually, Nintendo are probably staking half their company on this console. They have lost dommination of the hand held market, thanks to the PSP. And are now really pushing their systems, both hand held and console to the family player. With games such as 'dogz' and the Mario series, Nintendo still have the ammo to push into the market and take back its spot as number 1. I have always found, since the days of N64 that Nintendo have really aimed their work at the multiplayer expereince. Mario Kart, James Bond Golden eye, Mario Party, Tennis etc etc. I have owned all the current consoles, and can say hand on heart that the Game Cube is the best. I am a very busy man, with (so to speak) fingers in lots of pies. I hardly have time to settle down and play console for hours on end, but much rather pick it up for half hour to an hour with a mate or two, have a good laugh at mario kart then go off and do my business. PS2 / Xbox I have always seen as a console aimed at the single male. Spending a night in on their own, a couple beers and a bit of online shoot them ups. Maybe I am wrong, but if things carry on how they have we will see a huge split in the industry. Those who follow the all round entertainment machine (Sony), those who want the best graphics (Microsoft) and those who push for best game play, and pure gaming fun (Nintendo). Bring on 'Wii' its certainly creating a stir just from the name, lets hope it creates a whirl wind from the day of its release!

Good point there, I never really noticed that. I agree with you (Now that you have pointed it out) that Nintendo really is good for a load of mates on a rainy day to have a good laugh, though it is aimed at a younger audience. Right now I own a PS2, Xbox never appealed to me. If what you say is correct at a party (When just men and beer) Game Cube would be more fun then Xbox or PS2. To be honest I think PC, Linux and Mac games (Connected via a LAN) should be more looked into. I'm sure that with time this could be developed into a good combination of a PS2, Xbox and Nintendo. What I would love to see, which I think only MS will try to do is PC gamers and Console gamers united on a multiplayer battle field.
Example being Halo, PC players and Xbox players both in the same servers.

my only comment at this point is that consoles are getting to be rediculously expensive and i find it almost pointless to get any new ones because the updated version of it will be out in a few years anyways and they'll be making all the cool games for THAT one. its beyond frustrating. plus there are so many to choose from, its gotten to the point where i don't get it anymore.

I also get angry when i buy a £50 game and within a few weeks it's on sale for £15. The console it self is very expensive and they are made for like £30 a time. Full On Design

Not exactly true, I beleive currently Microsoft are losing money with every Xbox 360 sold.

They are not, It's costs £205 - £280, the parts inside them most likely do not cost that much in total and the total man power need could not come to that. No company would sell a product at a loss. Full On Design

It's a fairly standard fact of console production (I think Nintendo are the only ones that don't do it), Consoles are sold for a loss on their first few years. There are two main reasons behind this: 1. the console needs to be competative for 5 years, so the spec needs to be high enough, but that comes at a cost. So the aim is that over the 5 year life span, the console will become cheaper than cheaper to produce, so after 2 years or so the cost to produce will become lower than the sale price, thus in the long term some profit is made 2. Market Share. You need to have as many people as possible using the console in order to get more games released by publishers (and thus get more people buying consoles), so sell the console at a loss to make more sales. As every publisher has to pay the console make a licence fee to release on their format, money is made from software sales. This means that if someone buys an Xbox360, Microsoft lose money, if someone buys an Xbox360 with 4 games, Microsoft makes some money. Nintendo are the only ones that make profit on their consoles from day 1 - which is probably why they are still around and continuing to do what they do after Atari and Sega fell by the wayside. On the other hand, Nintendo do not produce consoles that are as hitech as those from MS and Sony. Rogeman, there are many articles over the net regard the cost of building Xbox360 and PS3 (speculation from industry experts, since Sony and MS are not forthcoming with that information), look on Google. Although the exact parts are not available for general public usage, similar parts are, for example, at a basic level Xbox360 has: PowerPC based 3 core CPU ($150) ATI graphics chip ($150) DVD player ($20) PS3 has: Cell CPU ($200) NVidia Graphics ($150) Blu Ray drive ($150) HDMC (or what ever it's called) ($50) then of course there is the wireless parts, the USB, audio, Power supply, case parts, joypad, etc I'll throw you a bone, here is one link on the subject: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20060221082342.html

http://wii.nintendo.com/They've updated this site now. Got a lot more cool info. You know whats weird... throughtout the whole buildup before th ex360 came out, I'd always swore I was going to get the 360 or ps3, without even giving the wii the time of day... now however, its all I want. Yeah so what the graphics and processors aren't as flashy... its about time we go back to gaming roots and get some good innovative gameplay. I cannot wait. Seems too good to be true... but Nintendo never seem mess things up :)

i totally agree with that. nintendo may not be the best on graphics but...its still great. i recently went back to the original console for a little super mario action lol. its still fun but not as much as a huge challenge.
