yeah, pretty shocking really. well, actually I think 'disgrace' would be a better word, the Ozbournes should be ashamed of themselves. Good to see that half the crowd left the gig, however I doubt that it will really make them think twice about what they did

Well I thought Sharon Osbourne was a down to earth type of person. Not like this. What was the provocation of the attack? or was there nothing before?

not totally sure, think it came about after a little bit of trash talk between Ozzy and Maiden, but that kind of thing has always happened, so don't know why it would spark something as bad as this.
Although I never watched it, I heard that Sharon showed herself to be a real bitch in the first series of X-Factor. not sure of the full details though.

Also found this on the subject which gives Sharon's view: http://www.kerrang.com/nav?page=kerrang.news.detail&fixture_news=3093576&resource=3093576Whether what she says is true or not I don't think it's an excuse for cutting the sound and disrupting the set of a band that people had paid money to see. It could all so easily have turned into a riot and tragedy...

I think Sharon's statement doesn't exactly argue any of the points raised by Maiden, she doesn't deny being behind it all, all she says is that Dickenson said some things about Ozzy, if you read the reports at the top, those things are acknowledged by Maiden anyway... not sure what she is trying to contribute.

Just in related news, for those that don't know:
Iron Maiden have a new double live album out called "Death On The Road" recorded during the world tour in support of the Dance Of Death album. The DVD to accompany it will be released on 24th October. The Rock In Rio DVD was really good so I think this will be a worthwhile purchase.
Meanwhile, Ozzy will be releasing a covers album in November. Tracklisting looks to be a lot of 60's stuff. Apparantly most of it was already released on the Prince Of Darkness boxset.

Was just thinking to myself that it's been a while since Ozzy released something I thought was really good. 1991 and the "No More Tears" album in my opinion.
Just picked it up to have a look at it again and noticed on the back cover that the 2002 re-issue Executive Producer was.....BRUCE DICKINSON!!!

Yep, 16 tracks. And you know what Maiden have been like recently, they've written more of the 7 minute operas like Hallowed Be Thy Name than the short sharp bursts of say The Trooper. So you'll definitely get plenty of minutes for your money :)
For what it's worth, I thought a lot of the Brave New World material came across a lot better live than it did on record. I'd expect the DOD material to be the same and I'd say it was stronger anyway.
