New Release Review: Greenday - American Idiot

New suits, new eye shadow, old attitude. Green Day are back and are as hungry and angry as ever

I can't stand Green Day. When silly rich california punk boyz start blaring political jargon, I want to vomit all over myself.

I used to really enjoy their music, but I guess their music isn't registering in my brain anymore. I need fresh and new, and billy armstrong's voice pierces all that is good in my head and drills into my very being. Those two lines "Don't wanna be an american idiot" and "I walk this lonely road", it's like clockwork orange for me, pure torture to the point of suicide.

I didn't get the album when it came out because I wasn't too keen on American Idiot as a song, I did get Bullet In A Bible and I got a copy of American Idiot after I heard some of the other songs. I thought American Idiot was a little too "mainstream", it was too simple and had no depth to it. I also disliked Holiday, neither of them were really my style. However, I absolutely love every other song on the album, so I have to agree that this was a spectacular comeback album. I don't like American Idiot but I think it was a good first single from the album because of the powerful political aspect and the way it managed to draw in many new fans. The videos for Jesus Of Suburbia and Boulevard Of Broken Dreams are awesome so yeah, I love the album overall
