A problem with emails from the forum has been detected and is now fixed.

Unfortunately new forum members have not been receiving their activation codes in order to complete their registration. If you have registerd recently and did not receive your account activation code, please contact me to have your account activated.

in short: It wasn't sending!

Longer explaination is that the type of mail systems supported by this server is different than those supported on the previous server... however whether a bug or oversight, the Snitz forums allowed me to select one of the two mail systems available but did not actually support sending email though them!! Problem was solved by adding support for the mail systems to the forum email code
