what area of animation?

Rendering?
3D?
Morph Objects?
Texture mapping?

Or are you talking about FLASH? If so best tip I can give, take your time.

I would agree with BigBrennan, regardless of what you are using to animate, take your time with it and do not rush it.
Perseverance is also a useful quality to have

Nothing good come for free, I use 3Ds Mac 6. Which retails at around the thousand pound mark.

yes but you "found" your copy. Thats probably the best way to get it. Unless you're rich or an animation company.
