As most of you should know, SwojFest (organised by BigBrennan) is taking place on Saturday 10th Jan at 9pm (GMT). If in doubt about the time, check the time on the forum for reference. I'm sorting out a few prizes and there will be a few compititions taking place - however, you will have to be a forum member to enter most of them as I will only be accepting the answers by Personal Message (and you need to be a member to send one!). A chat session is planned for the event, I may even have the Chat part up before hand so that people can try it out. Will let you know more later

The new Chat system is coming on, the necessary functionality is all there now, except the ability to log on and off! Will work on that over the next day or two, so it should be ready for Saturday!

No, it's just HTML with Coldfusion backend. I had thought about building a Flash based one, but I don't have the time for that just now  Anyway, it's done now, check it out at http://www.swoj.com/chat/

Yes, but you can't actually make it in FLash, you need to do it director, and use Multieserver which I don't have :(

That's where a little ingenuity comes in  Flash has an HTTP get feature, use that to retreive the latest data, then display it. That's just the basic idea, but Flash does have the facility to do it.
