What sort of advertising? Like publicising your own website, or something else?
If it is just your own forum that you want to advertise, then you can put a link to it in your sig.
I have a link to my webpage in my sig (the dragon image), so there is no reason that I can think of just now as to why you shouldn't be allowed to.

If you really want to advertise it, then you'd probably be better putting it in your sig, as that way it'll be advertised every post you make in every thread, rather than just this thread.
As for the rules... there were some that came up when you registered, but I don't know if there is a copy of them anywhere else. Will suggest to swoj that he puts them somewhere easily accessible.

I'll make a set of forum rules that is easily findable As far as advertising goes, you can set links as your homepage or as 'cool links', you can put a link in your signature, but I do not want to see big signatures all over the place (general rule of thumb, if your sig is bigger than most of your posts, then it is too big!) As for advertising in general, it all depends on what you contribute. I don't mind regular posters occassionally posting to say "This is a website I've been working on, check it out", but it's just rude to not contribute much and keep asking people to go other sites. Dundar, your current sig is fine. Hope that clears things up a little, as I said, I'll sort out an easily accessable set of rules at some point.
