2012 is not, as you might have thought given the recent US elections, a movie about the next set of elections, instead it is a movie from Ronald Emmerich, director of end of the world films Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow.  This movie follows a similar theme, with the end of the world set for 2012 (which is when the Mayan calendar ends, which many people think indicates the end of the world... rather than the calendar cycling round and starting again...) and the movie seems to be about how the world will handle the series of natural disasters that will occur.   Obviously, there isn't much likelyhood of this happening, but don't let that get in the way of a good film :)

A teaser trailer is now up for the film, which is due out in 2009.
