Set in the near future, Jason Statham stars as an ex-race driver framed for the murder of his wife. He arrives in prison that runs a 'sports event' called Death Race. The cars are heavily armed and losing can be fatal.
Don't take the plot too seriously though, this is an action film and it doesn't worry about hiding it. The race sequences are good, high powered cars with machine guns... it just works! Definitely worth watching, just switch off and enjoy

I saw the advert for this the other day, I did not feel it was a film that if i missed it my life would be over. When is it out?

it's out already - think it came out last weekend.
As I said, it's not going to be an oscar contender, but it's enjoyable.

It's a very loose remake of the 1975 film "Death Race 2000" (that was on TV last night)
It's not really got much in common with the original though, other than the fact it's about cars with weapons, and a few character names are carried over. Other than that it's different film.

good movie if your after action, does whip out a few korny lines though
