yes, Eragon looks a lot like Dragon, no coincidence there...

Eragon is the first part of an epic looking trilogy. As far as I gather the main character is a stable boy who somehow finds out he a dragon rider. It's an adventure with magic and dragons as the world must be saved from the evil guy. Obvious there is not much point in saving the world if there is not a hot looking princess to save along with it :) Interesting looking movie, though despite it's apparently grand ambitions it has been fairly low profile so far.

yeah its based on a book by chistopher p-something who was 15 when he started writing it or something like that. there are also a couple of sequels (seeing as its a trilogy and all) so they're probably making the rest into films as well.
i'll probably go see it because it looks pretty interesting.

AGHHHHHHHH!!! I just watched this and I was so pissed off by the ending, I didn't realise it was the end until the credits came on =( I didn't know it was going to be a trilogy until I found this thread on here so I'm happy there's going to be more. I thought the film was really good except for some contradictions, like when Eragon goes to stab Durza's Dark Magic Dragon and it goes straight through but when Saphira is being attacked, he has no difficulties stabbing it =S I wasn't so keen on Edward Speleers acting, I thought he was acting more like a stuck-up, arrogant rich kid than a poor, humble stable boy who had just had this greatness thrust upon him. A few of his facial expressions didn't coincide with what he was saying, for example, he was grimacing while sending excited, happy thoughts to Saphira =S What's that about? Garrett Hedlund is really hot ^^ Hehe, I thought he was a really good actor. Some of the characters had exaggerated characters, the ugliness of Durza for example, need I say more? Can't wait for the sequels at any rate, Galbatorix's dragon looks huge! Good luck Saphira x

I saw this on Sky a few weeks ago.  I didn't have high hopes for it but it was fairly entertaining.
I agree about the ending, it did kind of finish unexpectedly, but the battle was pretty good.

No sign of the next book being filmed yet, don't think this one did well enough to get a sequel.  Shame though, while it's not the greatest film, it was fun and I would like to see the sequels made.

well if you've ever read the books, there is no way that this movie can turn into the sequel because they completely changed the ending of the first one to the point one where the second one is pointless.

That happened with the Bourne movies as well, but they still managed to get 3 good movies out of that :)

Had the box office return been good enough, I'm sure they would have found a way.

yeah thats true.  i don't know.  i didn't find the books to be that entertaining anyways and i think one of the only reasons it made it big was cuz the guy was so young when he wrote them.  i can understand that but i don't think they were good enough to be made into a movie.
how far did the bourne series stray??

don't know, haven't read the books, but from what I'm told (my Dad is a fan of the books - and the movies) the story strays a lot in the first film, with the second and third having pretty much nothing to do with the books.
