News is out that the final Harry Potter book is going to be split into two films instead of being squeezed into one. The reason for this is that the book is so big, and there is virtually nothing that isn't required by the plot, that it is impossible to fit it all into one movie. Of course, the more cynical of us might speculate that being faced with the prospect of the cash cow franchise coming to an end, the studio is desperate to milk it for everything it's worth before it's over! I think milking is far more the likely scenario here. If it really was for artistic reasons, then they would have done the same with some of hte other films. They only probably didn't cause of 2 things 1) the fans wouldn'thave like to have many of hte films split over potentially a year in release time, 2) with the young actors/actresses ageing, they didn't have the time to be able to split them more, cause little young harry would have been acted by mid twenties Daniel by the end of it!

might not be a full year, sounds like they are aiming at a November release for the first part then a summer (probably June or July) release for the second part.
