News from late last night is that Sony have now announced that they will not be shipping the Playstation 3 in Spring as they had hoped, this has now slipped to November.

On the otherhand, they have also announced that they will be launching worldwide in November. while that can only be a good thing for Europeans, it does seem strange that they are taking this approach after being so critical of Microsoft doing this last year with the XBox360.

Also, while not totally finalised, Sony have said that they will be including a hard drive in the PS3 as well as standard, and there will be an online service equivalent to Xbox Live which will be provided by SOE (Sony Online Entertainment, makers of Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies and Planetside).

I saw something about this on Newsround, they have brought it back due to 'Technolodgy' problems.

The issues that were blamed (or at least mentioned directly) are the copy protection systems that are used on the BluRay standard.

So, Sony is making uncopyable discs...why don't DVD's makers do that LOL.

it kind of has to come out by then for Sony. If they can't get the PS3 our before Christmas in at least one area, then they might as well just give up and go home.

Does sound good, though it does seem strange. On one hand they are are saying that they have not yet decided whether to bundle the hard drive with the PS3 or not, yet they are telling developers to assume it will be there. Could imply that there will be multiple versions, a games version and a non-games version (media centre?), however previous rumours suggest that it would be a games version and a movie/games version, with the games one being cheaper.
I get the feeling that they are still changing things to try and out do the Xbox, still, if it's done right it should make for a good console

I'm looking forward for the PS3, I think sony is learning from Xbox360's mistakes.

If you can't at least add something contructive to the (long dead) discussion, don't resurrect old posts!

Necroing is bad.
